Who we are
Spiritual Bullshit is operated by Emerald Search Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16996143. For the purposes of data protection law, Emerald Search Ltd is the controller responsible for your personal information.
- Trading name: Spiritual Bullshit
- Legal entity: Emerald Search Ltd
- Company number: 16996143
- Country of registration: United Kingdom
- Email: hello@spiritualbullshit.com
- Website: https://spiritualbullshit.com
This policy covers spiritualbullshit.com, including The Bullshit Audit, the Unbecoming application pages and our enquiry and application forms for experiences such as retreats and The Interruption.
What we collect
We keep this to what we need.
- What you tell us. Information you give us through forms on this website, such as your name, email address and, where a form asks for it (for example a retreat enquiry or an application for The Interruption), your phone number. This covers joining a list, asking for audit results, applying for Unbecoming, enquiring about an experience, and anything you choose to type into an application or a message to us.
- Which form you used. A short label such as “audit” or “book list”, so we know what you asked for. We also record when you download the printable PDF.
- Your audit answers. These stay in your own browser unless you choose to save them with us. See “The Bullshit Audit and your answers” below.
- Payment details. The site does not take payments today. If that changes, our payment provider will handle your card details, we will not see or store your full card number, and we will update this policy.
- Basic technical data. Our hosting provider sees your IP address, browser and device type when you visit, to deliver and secure the site.
- Email delivery data. Whether an email was delivered or bounced. We do not track whether you open our emails or click the links in them.
Why we use your information
UK law says we need a lawful reason for each use. Ours are below.
| What we do | Why we are allowed to |
|---|---|
| Send the results, download or reply you asked for | It is what you asked us to do, and we have a legitimate interest in answering you |
| Send marketing emails, such as the newsletter, book news and Unbecoming | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Take and assess Unbecoming applications, and deliver the programme | A contract with you, or steps you ask for before one |
| Keep the site working and secure | Our legitimate interest in running a safe website |
| Keep tax, accounting and legal records | A legal obligation |
We store your audit answers only if you press the agree button, and then our reason is your explicit consent. We do not sell your information or use it in ways you would not expect.
The Bullshit Audit and your answers
The audit is a private reflection, so you decide what happens to your words.
While you work through it, your answers are saved in your own browser so you do not lose your place. By default they stay on your device and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.
You can see your results without giving us anything. To keep a copy of your answers, or to download the printable PDF, you give your name and email address and press a button that says you agree. If you press it:
- your answers are stored with your name and email address in our database;
- we record the exact wording you agreed to and when you agreed to it;
- we email you your results. The email contains the words you wrote, and our email provider keeps a copy for a limited period so delivery problems can be fixed;
- we use your answers to show you your results again, and to prepare for working with Kirsty if you choose to. We will ask you again before using them for anything new, including any AI tool;
- you can ask us to delete your answers at any time by emailing hello@spiritualbullshit.com, and we will.
If you do not press the button, your answers never leave your device and we know nothing about you. If you only ask for the printable PDF, we keep your name and email address and a record that you downloaded it, but not your answers.
A note on sensitive information. The audit asks about love, healing, spirituality and identity. You may write about your health, relationships, beliefs or background, which the law treats as especially sensitive. You never have to. If you press the agree button, you give your explicit consent for us to store whatever you wrote, including anything sensitive. You can withdraw that consent at any time and we will delete your answers.
We do not use your answers to train AI models, and we do not run them through AI tools today. If we add an AI tool later, we will ask for your consent again first and update this policy. The audit is a thinking tool, not therapy or medical advice.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We use these providers to run the site, and they may only use your information on our instructions.
| Provider | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the website |
| Supabase | Stores sign-ups and saved answers in our database (hosted in London) |
| Resend | Sends our emails |
We also keep a contact list in a customer record tool that runs on our own computer. We may share information with accountants, lawyers or the authorities where we have to. If the business is ever sold, your information could pass to the new owner, who must honour this policy.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of our providers, such as Vercel and Resend, are US companies and may process information in the US. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards UK law allows, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK’s standard contract terms (the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum), so your information keeps the same protection.
Where we can choose, we use Europe. Our email provider sends from Ireland, and our database is hosted in London. Our website’s server functions currently run in Washington, D.C.
How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Email list details | Until you unsubscribe, then only your email address on a “do not contact” list so we never email you again by mistake |
| Audit answers | In your browser: until you clear your browser data. If you chose to save them with us: until you ask us to delete them, or 24 months after your last activity |
| Copies of emails at our email provider | A limited period, set by the provider, so delivery problems can be fixed |
| Unbecoming applications that do not go ahead | 12 months |
| Unbecoming participants and payment records | 6 years after the programme ends, for tax and accounting |
| Messages and enquiries you send us | 24 months from the last contact |
Cookies and similar technologies
At the time of writing (26 October 2026) the site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising tools.
The site does use your browser’s local storage to remember your place in The Bullshit Audit. You asked the site to do that, so it does not need a cookie banner. Our host may keep technical logs of requests to keep the site secure.
If we add analytics or marketing tools later, we will ask for your consent first and update this section.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your information;
- restrict or stop how we use it;
- send it to you in a portable format;
- stop marketing emails (you can also just click unsubscribe).
You can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing does not affect anything we did with it before.
To use any of these, email hello@spiritualbullshit.com. We reply within one month, and we may ask you to prove who you are.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would like the chance to put it right first.
If you live in the United States
Most of our readers are in the US, so here is what matters to you. We are a UK business, so your information is processed in the UK and by the providers listed above, some of which are in the US. By using the site you understand that.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Virginia or Texas), you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We apply these rights to everyone, wherever you live. Email hello@spiritualbullshit.com and we will reply within 30 days.
Our marketing emails follow US CAN-SPAM rules as well. Each one says who it is from and includes a working unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribes promptly, and always within 10 business days.
Emails, children and changes
Emails. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Emails you asked for, such as your audit results, are service emails sent because you requested them.
Children. This site is for adults. It contains strong language and adult themes, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes. We will update this page when something changes and show the date here. For big changes we will email our subscribers.
